Pastoral Plan
What is a pastoral plan?

The pastoral plan for a diocese is a roadmap, by which parishes are able to address focused concerns as we grow together as Church. It is four years since the diocese launched the first phase of the Plan in response to a call by Pope John Paul II. "....each church must identify the specific features of a detailed pastoral plan...which will enable the proclamation of Christ.. to have a deep and incisive influence in bringing Gospel values to bear in society and cultutre" (IEM #29)

The Pastoral Plan "That You May Have Life - Kia whai oranga ai koutou" identified ten focus areas worthy of active diocesan and parish effort. These ten were communicated to parishes in 2004 and parishes responded magnificently by choosing to focus esopecially on 2 or 3 a year. In 2006 these were retained bit 4 new goals incporporating them were offered to assist parishes in planning.

Each parish was also asked to formulate its own plan with those focus areas and goals in mind and to report annually to the diocese.
